For 365 days, all 50 million gallons of Western Plains Energy’s ethanol production has been dehydrated to US fuel spec by Whitefox membranes – a testament to Western Plains’ commitment to innovation and the technology’s reliability.
The result? The ICE XL made them one of the most energy efficient plants in the US ethanol industry. In fact, it can reduce steam consumption by up to 50% in distillation, dehydration and evaporation (DD&E), the most energy intensive unit operation in ethanol production and reduce a plant’s CI score by up to ~7 points, allowing them to qualify for the next tier in 45Z Clean Fuel Production credits. |  |
